Child Pajamas
Finding the right kind of child pajamas is no easy task. There are so many different types and even more
designs and colors to choose from that you can get overwhelmed quite easily.
Then as if you didn't already have enough choices, you are also faced with different fabrics. The broad
selection of child pajamas is due to the increasing popularity of many designs and types of pajamas for older
children. Once they pass the toddler stage, children are not happy with their footy pajamas and are looking
for pajamas that are age appropriate.
It is always a good idea to have more than one pair of child pajamas in your child's wardrobe. You should
have a few different sets for each of the seasons to allow your child the right level of comfort and warmth that
coincides with the weather. There are quite a few different things that can help you pick out the right ones
that will meet the basic comfort needs of your child, yet make them happy as well.
First, you need to think about the specific weather conditions where you live and how your home maintains
temperatures. For areas that are rather cold in the fall and winter months, it is a good idea to choose child
pajamas that are a little on the thicker side. Fleece and flannel pajamas are the perfect choice. For
warmer regions and the spring and summer months, jersey knit and cotton pajamas are great selections. Keep
your child's comfort in mind when you choose the fabrics.
Your next step to choosing child pajamas is to consider the patterns, colors, and prints that are
available. Especially in the case of specific characters, you want to make sure that you are not choosing
pajamas that your child thinks is awful or ones that “babies” wear. If you are buying child pajamas for a
relative, find out what characters and designs that the child enjoys before you make a purchase to avoid
disappointment.
Most child pajamas are gender specific. They will have some of the same character options, but the overall
design will reflect whether it is meant for a boy to wear or a girl. For example, many designs for girls can
have some of the popular characters but will add feminine touches, like ruffles or accenting hearts and butterflies
on light colored background fabrics. Boys' designs, however, will often reflect a bit more masculinity with
bold colored background fabrics and additions like sports equipment accents and bold contrasting striping on
collars and sleeves.
Most child pajamas for older children are in two pieces. This is generally because older children do not
like the confining feelings that one piece pajamas provide. They also like to be able to make their own
choices, frequently mixing the tops and bottoms of the sets for individuality. Sometimes you may find it
easier to buy solid colored tops and bottoms that can be mixed with the printed designs for the most choices for
your child.
